Any information you can give about this piece would be appreciated. It belonged to my wife's grandmother, it is the remaining one of a pair; the other, a female figure was broken years ago.
The finish is matt, very similar in colour and texture to green Wedgewood.
We don't think it is of any monetry value, but it has a great deal of sentimental value.

What a nice item. A very good subject, and very commercial

Going by the photograph the item looks bisque. This is when porcelain that has been fired but has not been glazed.
Items like this where made in the millions in Austria and Germany during the last part of the 19th century and into the first part of the 20th century 1870-1910.
In the Victorian age every middle class home in the country had bisque figures. Some of the larger ones were kept under glass domes. Many were made in pairs and put either side on top of the fire place.
Some were given as prizes in fair grounds. These ones are of a poor quality.
Your item was made in Germany in about 1880-1890

I would expect your figure in an antique fair to have a price tag of £125 - £175
