    Antique school desk and chair

    Hi John,
Just wondering ... is there much of a local market for antique school desks (with chairs)? I'm assuming that the one I have was made around 1900 ... I'll post a picture when I've managed to unearth it from my spare room (aka 'junk room'!)

I've looked on ebay this morning and the prices for similar desks vary dramatically, depending upon whether they're 'buy it now' or being auctioned. (ie: the b.i.n ones are advertised as well over £100, whereas similar ones up for auction have very few bids and only a short time to go ... one is currently at £5.50 and another at £32!)

Basically, I'm asking about 'local interest' to try and gauge whether it would be better to list it online for national viewing, or haul it off to the nearest auction house? (I could do with getting rid of it a.s.a.p as I need the space!)

    Hi
I would like to see the picture before we consider the road you need to go down.

Do you know the name of the school.

Is there any graffiti on the desk.

Will drag it downstairs for a photo-shoot tomorrow John. (Thanks very much in anticipation, I'll look forward to your advice)

It's presumably from a school in London, as it was stashed away in the cellar of a house that my daughter moved into when she went to live down there.

No graffiti, although there are plenty of ink spills inside (the top of the desk lifts up). It also has one of those ceramic ink-wells in situ. (The accompanying chair looks darned uncomfortable! )

Hi John, Here are the photos of the desk & chair (I hope this will work ... I'm not competent with photobucket!)

Doesn't look as though I've done it right, sorry

    I'll have another go later.
