A special boat has been used in the search for Adam Seaton today.
Paul Sherman leading the search commented...
We have been back out on the marsh again today, where we have achieved two things. Firstly, we have covered more of the area of interest on the marsh, however there is nothing to report from that.
Secondly, we have fitted the longtail mud motor that we built up yesterday, to a small dinghy and tried it out at low tide this morning when the water was at its shallowest.
A couple of minor alterations are needed but it handled very well and overall does what we need it to do. This enables us to cover greater distances in less time regardless of the state of the tide in the channels. With regards to the search out here for Adam, we’ve had quite a few people messaging offering to help out with the search on the marshes. However, whilst we appreciate the offers of help, unless you have extensive knowledge of the estuary we cannot take up your offer.
The gutters that sometimes have to be negotiated, all contain very deep mud, as you can see from the photo of me after I had been wading through this one. Enough said.
The video clip is Ryan putting the mud motor through its paces at low water. We still have a large area of the estuary to search, but we are making good progress. More updates as we progress, and thank you for all for the messages of support both in the group and privately.

The search could possibly be improved and speeded up by the use of one or more drones. The Southport Lifeboat group should certainly be thinking in this direction, always assuming they do not already have this sort of technology.

There are a couple of news threads running with updates, one of these was showing how drones are being used the aid the search.

I am glad that they went out to find Adam Seaton. I learned a lot from him when I went to Elite Custom Boat Docks, and met him there. He is one of the best people I know, and the knowledge he has is incredible.
