When I saw the young man,he was holding paper towels to one side of his head, and his mobile phone to the other side of his head.
So hopefully not too badly hurt.
But it is a shocking thing to happen.

Just what a town needs at Xmas - not.
Sad to say, it will put many visitors off.

It is most certainly not the first time that guns have been used in Southport.

No its not , a mate of mine was shot whilst working on the fox and goose a number of years back , to this date nobody has ever been arrested for it . Wonder if the shooter in this case will get away with it

Was that during the 'Doormen Wars'? There were a few killed during that time, not all were classed as murder - though many knew differently.
There was also some Gangland Trouble during the 1960's with regard to London gangs. I was told that there was a running gun battle one Sunday morning over Eastbank Bridge - though I cannot find any information about it.
Unlikely that the recent gunman will get away with anything - supposedly he and his victim are well known to the police.

I think you may be referring to the "Richardson's" who came up from London, it was at the time when the Kingsway was in full swing which if I recall was being run by John James.
There were a couple of other establishments that attracted a certain type of clientele, Peter the Greek who was a well known character around town was the owner of one of these establishments.
They never returned for second helpings so I can only assume that they weren't too keen on the nightlife or perhaps the welcoming party.

I seem to remember Peter the Greek being murdered at his home and a reconstruction being shown on Crimewatch back in the mid 80's
