    Salus.
We never used talk about sex.
    We never talked about immigration.
    We didn't swear in public.
Get with it, the above were all talked about but not openly .
The man's a man who speaks his mind and some people
    don't like it.

Trump is the front face - Congress makes all the decisions. The president of the USA has very limited powers.

Trump does not like the area so far from a prestigious postcode.
I think he is consistent on that one.

I think it is more to do with the spat between him and Mayor Khan.

He has said many times it is himself and his team, but all messages come directly from Trump and he tweets them so that the fake news/mainstream """"media"""" cant twist his words and make it into something its not.

They still try very hard to do so though.

    What a scandal.
    What was Obama thinking!
Oh, I don't know! The US Embassy in the UK should be a wigwam hidden in some deep forest somewhere, and the only scandal is the detrimental invasion the US has forced on the British culture.

Both sides have been economical with the truth. The old embassy building was no longer fit for purpose and it would be interesting to know of any available 5 acre sites that are more central. The relocation was agreed by George W Bush, but the property transactions and design took place under Obama. It was sold to the Qatari's so who knows what backhanders were involved, including the curious decision by Margaret Hodge to list the building after the move announcement and before the sale.

    Old Embassy.
    24 Grosvenor Square, Mayfair London W1A 2LQ

    33 Nine Elms Lane London SW8 5BL

Margaret Hodge had history with the Mayfair building.

The US embassy building in central London has been granted Grade II listed status for its "dynamic facade".
..........The four-storey building, topped with a golden eagle, sits in one of the most exclusive neighbourhoods of London and was built between 1955 and 1957.

I know where it is - it is actually quicker by car to the Foreign office than from the existing location, and if you fancy walking, only 5-10 minutes longer. The Dutch are also moving to nine elms and the Chinese considering a move. It will be getting a very close new tube station in 2020. It is an area of considerable regeneration with a lot of new property flying up and in that sense makes a lot of sense.

We were there last week changing tube lines to our destination.
You missed the point-Trump's character is stunted he cannot see past the postcode of W1 and the word Mayfair.

Many Vauxhall residents live in social housing. There are several gentrified areas, and areas of terraced townhouses on streets such as Fentiman Road and Heyford Avenue have higher property values in the private market; however, by far the most common type of housing stock in Vauxhall is flats, both conversions and purpose built blocks.Vauxhall is also a popular residential area for members of parliament and civil servants due to its proximity to the Houses of Parliament and Whitehall; Kennington is within the area wired for the Commons' Division bell. Some 18th and 19th century property also survives – most famously Bonnington Square, a community that emerged from the 1970s–1980s squat scene in London and remains as mostly housing co-operatives today.

Vauxhall is a very ethnically diverse area, with approximately 40% of residents originating from a non-white ethnic group. There is a significant Portuguese community, some with a connection to Madeira; many Portuguese restaurants and bars are located in South Lambeth Road and the surrounding area. There is also a Muslim community, with almost 6% of residents declaring themselves as Muslim in the 2001 census.

The explosion in London property prices during the late 1990s and early 2000s has led to a boom in riverside construction, such as the large St George Wharf development by Vauxhall Bridge.

"Mayfair is an affluent area in the West End of London towards the east edge of Hyde Park, in the City of Westminster, between Oxford Street, Regent Street, Piccadilly and Park Lane. It is one of the most expensive districts in London and the world.......
By the end of the 18th century, most of Mayfair was built on with prestigious housing to suit the upper class; unlike some nearby areas of London, it has never lost its affluent status. The decline of the British aristocracy in the early 20th century led to Mayfair becoming more commercial instead of residential, with many former homes converted into offices for major corporate headquarters, embassies and other businesses. There remains a substantial quantity of luxury residential property, upmarket shops and restaurants, and modern hotels along Piccadilly and Park Lane in particular. Mayfair's prestigious status has been commemorated by being the most expensive property square on the London Monopoly board."

Why would Trump want to help Mayor Khan in developing Vauxhall?
The Dutch and Chinese would not have considered the move before the USA agreed.
